Bella Band Understands The Pregnant Mother

The Bella Band, a revolutionary and life-changing maternity invention, is an essential piece to every expectant mother’s wardrobe. Practical, stylish, and incredibly comfortable, it is made by maternity fashion designer Ingrid & Isabel and has become a staple in the maternity fashion world. Along with the Bella Band, Ingrid & Isabel also design fashionable and functional maternity clothing staples, from cute tank tops to figure flattering sweat pants. Incorporating these essentials into your wardrobe will allow you to be comfortable and stylish throughout your pregnancy.

The Bella Band was the first product offered by Ingrid & Isabel, and it is truly a necessary staple to one’s maternity wardrobe. The seamless knit band is designed to be worn over the waist of one’s pants both during and after pregnancy. During the early stages of pregnancy, when one’s pre-pregnancy pants are starting to get too tight, slip this super comfy band over your unbuttoned pants or skirt. It will hold your pants up and allow you to continue wearing your favorite jeans! In mid-pregnancy, when your pre-pregnancy pants are simply not an option anymore but maternity clothing is still too loose, it can be used to give that little extra bit of hold needed to keep them nice and snug! Late in pregnancy, when even maternity pants seem a bit too tight, it will provide that extra hold needed to keep them from falling down. Finally, the Bella Band is a great transition piece post pregnancy as it will give you leeway to transition back to your pre-pregnancy clothing. With all these uses, the Bella Band truly gives you your money’s worth, particularly since the same size band can be worn throughout your entire pregnancy. Available in a plethora of colors, including some gorgeous lace options, the Bella Band is an absolute essential to the expectant mother’s wardrobe.

There are certain staples which expectant mothers find incredibly helpful to incorporate into their wardrobes, and stretchy, long tank tops are one of these essentials. Great for layering or wearing on a warm day with jeans or shorts, tank tops are stylish and comfortable. Ingird & Isabel designs two fashionable and functional options, both of which are versatile and incredibly comfy. The Everyday Cami is a seamless-knit camisole which is extra-soft and stretches beautifully over your baby bump. The fabric has a crepe finish and will resist the dreaded pilling and fading that occurs with many other fabrics. Extra-long, the Everyday Cami covers your baby bump throughout all stages of your pregnancy and is a great post-partum transition piece. Ingrid & Isabel’s other stylish tank top is the Essentials Ruched Tank. With the same seamless design and soft, stretchy fabric as the cami, the tank adds figure flattering ruching for your baby bump. Available in black, white, and navy blue, these essential tops make a great gift for any expectant mother, as she will be sure to get much use from them!

Along with tank tops, stretch pants which are figure flattering are an essential that every expectant mother will want in her wardrobe. Ingrid & Isabel designs the Everywear Pant, a black stretchy pant which is flattering, stylish, comfortable, and versatile. This maternity pant is amazing, as it can be worn in a multitude of ways. Its wide waistband can be worn up and over the belly for full tummy coverage, folded to the waist for extra under the belly support, or folded all the way down over one’s bum for a cute skirt-over-pants look! With its gentle boot cut, it is very flattering. The soft, stretchy fabric is super comfy, and the fabric’s finish makes it easily dressed up or down. Perfect for everyday wear, the Everywear Pant is both stylish and comfy, ensuring you will look and feel great throughout your pregnancy.

Ingrid & Isabel truly understands the expectant mother’s needs and changing body, creating clothing which is both practical and flattering. From the amazing Bella Band to tanks and stretch pants, they have designed wonderful options for both during and after pregnancy. Your comfort is of utmost importance, and Ingrid & Isabel’s designs accomplish this goal in a stylish and flattering way!

Claudia Schiffer Stripes It Up With Her Maternity Style

Supermodel Claudia Schiffer, 39, is expecting her third child with hubby Matthew Vaughn! The happy couple, who wed in 2002, is very excited for the birth of their child, telling the Daily Mail “We are delighted with the news and can’t wait to add to our family.” They sure make one duo of stylish parents! Due this May, Claudia has already been spotted out and about in some super cute and comfortable outfits. From her day to evening wear, I cannot wait to see what the rest of her maternity and postpartum style will bring.

One of my favorite outfits of hers exemplifies a hot trend for expectant mothers: stripes. We have always been told to not wear stripes, as they can widen our shape. When done correctly, however, stripes are chic and refreshing! Out in London this month, Claudia pairs a short black and white striped dress with leggings. Comfortable yet stylish, this look is great for daytime or for dressing up at night. Keeping stripes thinner provides a modern and flattering look, and pairing a colored stripe against white is fresh and hip. A striped dress made of wool works well for cooler months while a cotton alternative is great as summer approaches.

Back in August, Ellen Pompeo was spotted on a day outing wearing a similar style. Her thinly striped dress looked comfy and trendy, perfect for going out to lunch or running errands. When paired with cute flats or sandals, an instant stylish outfit is created.

While both Claudia and Ellen demonstrated a more casual look with stripes, Jenna Elfman showed how to take them from day to night on her January 4th appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. Maintaining the same idea with a black and white striped dress paired with skinny jeans, she made it a nighttime look by choosing a dress with sparkle and pairing it with heels and a trendy coat. A structured blazer would look great with this outfit as well, and adding some gorgeous jewelry will take your look right into evening. These small touches can really change the look of an entire outfit. In another evening look which demonstrates a great way to wear stripes, Jenna rocked an asymmetrical striped sweater dress on the red carpet in October. The asymmetrical stripes provide a trendy look while elongating your upper body.

As Claudia, Ellen, and Jenna demonstrate, stripes, when worn correctly, are fun and stylish. Doing an all over stripe is too much, but pairing a cute dress or great top with a neutral bottom is a flattering way to wear this trend. Whether you choose to wear your favorite pair of jeans or a comfy pair of leggings, a striped top or dress looks great.

For a casual, comfortable, yet very flattering look try pairing the ¾ Sleeve Striped Nursing Henley from 1 in the Oven with a great pair of jeans. You will look gorgeous and feel comfortable. With spring coming, bright colors and fine stripes make a great combination for a refreshing new look. Maternal America’s Crochet Top with thin asymmetrical stripes creates visual interest and really adds style and flare to any outfit. Whether you pair it with jeans, khakis, or capris, a fresh look for spring is sure to be created. A good work appropriate look which demonstrates the stripe trend is the Side Cinch Maternity/Nursing Top with Cami from Japanese Weekend. The thin stripes look great paired with black slacks, creating a professional look that could also easily be taken into the evening.

Whichever look you decide to wear, making sure that you are comfortable and confident is the number one priority. If you are confident and feel great, you will bring your own touch to any outfit. Congratulations again, Claudia and Matthew! We can’t wait to see your newest addition (as well as Claudia’s great maternity style)!

8 Essential Maternity Clothes Items

When you think about all the clothing you need when you are pregnant, it can be overwhelming. What fits one day may not fit the next. Seasons change, your belly changes daily, but your life continues on and you need clothes to wear. Well you don’t have to dress frumpy just because you are pregnant and you don’t need to break the bank in stocking your wardrobe for the year. Here are 8 essentials for every pregnant woman’s wardrobe to get you started:

  1. A great pair of jeans. The most important factor in maternity jeans is that they are comfortable with plenty of stretch. If you wore jeans frequently before you were pregnant, chances are you will want to wear them while you are pregnant. You don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style and settle for “mom jeans” just because you are expecting. There are some very fashionable maternity jeans on the market today which not only look great; they don’t look like maternity jeans or “mom jeans.” Personal favorites include Maternal America’s Megan Jean. This jean was voted by Fit Pregnancy as the Best All Around Style Jean on the market out of 280 jeans they tested.
  2.

  3. Maternity Leggings. Yes, leggings really are back. Many of us who grew up in the 80s didn’t trust this trend last year, or even the year before that. Well, leggings are here to stay for a while anyway and frankly they are great for maternity and are super comfortable to wear. Bella Band makes some of the best fitting and durable leggings around with a stretch panel front. These leggings go great with a tunic, skirt, dress or extra long maternity top. They are very comfortable and warm in cool weather. Leggings come in a wide variety of styles including side ruching, lace, and cropped varieties along with an array of colors. I suggest buying at least one pair of black maternity leggings. If you find you are grabbing them every week, then branch out with a few more styles and colors.
  4.

  5. A short black dress. Everyone needs a versatile black dress in their wardrobe, pregnant or not because there are always events that come up which call for one. Pick an easy jersey or rayon/spandex blend fabric that does not need ironing and can easily stretch to fit your ever changing figure. Dress it up with a jacket or dress it down with leggings. Jazz it up with some necklaces and heels or wear it casual with boots. A versatile black short black dress is more wearable than a maxi and it is easier to move and work in as well.
  6.

  7. Extra long short sleeve tops. Shade makes a great fitting maternity Baby Tee. This top is extra long, hugs your curves and stretches where it needs to. You will want one of these great pieces in every color. Wear it alone in warm weather with shorts, capris or jeans. Layer it in colder weather under a cardigan. Wear it to work with a blazer. You will even want to wear this top postpartum as the extra long length hides your postpartum belly.
  8.

  9. A Stylish Henley is another must-have. This is a great casual everyday go-to item. One in the oven makes a comfortable extra long maternity Henley in long sleeves. They also have a 3/4 sleeve waffle weave nursing Henley that is long enough to be worn for maternity as well.
  10.

  11. A lightweight scarf is a must for your winter maternity wardrobe. A scarf can add both warmth and style to your ensemble. Check out Maternal America’s Nursing Scarf. There is a multitude of different ways to wear this scarf which works as a nursing cover as well.
  12.

  13. A Wrap Top. The Wrap Top style has been around for years, springing from the Wrap Dress. This style works so easily with a blossoming belly while still offering an attractive neckline and overall style. Japanese Weekend’s Stripe Wrap Maternity/Nursing Top is an urban chick 3/4 sleeve charcoal wrap maternity and nursing top with an accent stripe along the neckline and sleeves. You can wear this top to the office with black trousers or casual with jeans.
  14.

  15. A Maternity Hoodie. Both 1 in the Oven and Japanese Weekend have adorable maternity hoodies which double as nursing hoodies with easy and discreet nursing access. This is a great top to grab on colder days when you just need an extra layer. Most pregnant women find sweaters too contricting, unflattering and hot. Hoodies are a great way to get some added warmth without putting on a heavy sweater. They also give an effortless trendy casual look for any day of the week.

So get yourself some wearable and fashionable maternity essentials to get yourself through the next 9 months with ease and style.
