Beyonces’ First Post Maternity Clothes Appearance

Va-va-voom! Beyonce made her first post-baby appearance on Monday evening to support her husband’s concert and looked as incredible as ever. The first time mother gave birth to baby Blue Ivy Carter just one month ago, but one would never know from her amazing post-baby body. Wearing a bright orange figure hugging dress, she truly glowed.

We love Beyonce’s dress as a great postpartum option as it has several features that are very figure flattering. The V-neck has an elongating effect, which in turn creates a slimming look. The long, vertical center seam helps to enhance this elongating and slimming feel. Ruching across the belly helps to hide any imperfections and adds visual interest. We also love how well balanced this outfit is, as the deep V-neck pairs perfectly with the below knee length hem. Beyonce could not have chosen a better way to celebrate her post-baby body!

We are looking forward to seeing more of Beyonce’s postpartum wardrobe as she begins to make more public appearances. Since she loves to show off her beautiful curves, we think she would look great in a fabulous pair of skinny jeans and a funky loose top. For any rock star mama’s out there interested in a fresh and fashionable look, try the Olian Off the Shoulder Peace Maternity Tee paired with their Long Straight Leg Elly B Jeans.

Congratulations again to Beyonce, Jay Z and their little bundle of joy!

Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Baby Arrives!

Congratulations to Beyonce and Jay-Z who welcomed a baby girl late Saturday night at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.

According to the New York Daily News, Beyonce checked into the Manhattan hospital Friday night under the name “Ingrid Jackson.” The superstar couple’s infant daughter was named Blue Ivy Carter and arrived via Caesarean Section with rapper husband Jay-Z at his wife’s side.

Jay-Z took every precaution to ensure the safety and comfort of his newborn daughter by spending $1.3 million to rent out and entire fourth floor of the hospital. Hallways were cleared for the musicians and waiting rooms were closely guarded by their bodyguards. Reportedly the hospital staff was asked to turn off their phones and security cameras were covered with tape.

Beyonce’s sister, proud aunt Solange, announced the arrival of her new niece on Twitter yesterday.

“The most beautiful girl in the world.”

Beyonce had announced her pregnancy onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards last August.

The Houston Chronicle reports that mom and baby are both doing well.

Maternity Swimwear For Your Babymoon

A pre-baby vacation filled with pampering, sleep, and relaxation…sound good? We think so, as do the growing number of couples treating themselves to a restful trip before the baby arrives. So popular, this pre-baby vacation has become known as the Babymoon and is the “last hurrah” for soon to be parents. The Babymoon is designed for relaxation, peacefulness, and bonding time with one’s partner. It is a time to reconnect, put aside the day to day distractions, and focus on one’s relationship. For a relaxing and romantic getaway, there are many Babymoon options available.

Many couples enjoy a destination Babymoon, and choosing a beach getaway is a great idea. One can fly to resorts in Mexico, the Bahamas, or Turks and Caicos for the ultimate Babymooon experience. Here one can lie on the beach, share a couple’s massage, and take romantic strolls in the evening. For these tropical getaways, one needs the perfect maternity swimsuit. A pretty choice for this special time is the Maternal America Black Flutter Halterkini. The halter top has a flattering empire waist design and a mesh fabric that covers one’s baby bump, which is sexy while still providing that extra bit of coverage. A bikini is also perfect for this special time, and is great for tanning on the beach. BelaBumBum’s beautiful Fuchsia Ring Maternity Bikini has a tropical feel with its gorgeous pink color, and the silver rectangles at the bust and hip add the perfect festive touch.

If one does not have a lot of free time for a getaway, a one day Babymoon is a great alternative. Even one day of relaxation with one’s partner provides bonding and rejuvenation time. For a short Babymoon, spend the day relaxing at a spa. Many spas offer couples services as well as services geared specifically for mothers-to-be, such as a pregnancy massage.

No matter how much time one has for a Babymoon, there is an option for everyone. From a tropical getaway to a rejuvenating spa day, spending this special time with one’s partner is the perfect way to prepare for the arrival of one’s baby.

Celebrity Babies This Week!

Out and about for the holidays, new celebrity mamas have been showing off their cute bundles of joy this week! Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott showed off the first pictures of their precious new family addition, baby Hattie. Born October 10th, Hattie is adorable cuddled up in Tori’s arms. Joining big brother Liam and big sister Stella, as well as Dean’s son Jack from his previous marriage, we could not be happier for the beautiful family.

Also spotted out this week was Jessica Alba with her baby Haven, just four months old. Haven joined big sister Honor earlier this year, and the adorable family has only gotten cuter. Jessica and Haven were out purchasing a Christmas tree, and Haven was bundled up in a furry vest. Jessica wore a flowing knit sweater that would go perfectly with a great pair of skinny jeans and one’s favorite winter boots. So precious!

Alyssa Milano was another mom spotted with her baby this week. Alyssa posted a picture of herself and her adorable three month old son Milo in their garden. They look so cute all cuddled up together! When speaking to Best of Babes, Alyssa spoke of the importance of breastfeeding to her, stating, “I think the thing I like best about breastfeeding is the closeness I feel to Milo and knowing that he’s getting the best of me.” She also explained how it is hard for her to breastfeed in public, due to the paparazzi. “I wish I could breastfeed in public without feeling as though a picture would show up on TMZ,” she says. “… When we go out I bring a bottle of expressed milk because sadly, I’m just not comfortable feeding him in public.”

We love seeing all the adorable newborns! Congratulations to the growing families!

Bryce Dallas Howard and husband Seth Gabel will have baby 2 shortly!

Congratulations to the stunning Bryce Dallas Howard and her handsome husband Seth Gabel on their second pregnancy! In just a few short weeks, their four year old son Theo will be joined by a new baby brother or sister. We love Bryce, not only for her phenomenal acting skills but also for her candidness in discussing her struggles with post-partum depression. We could not be happier for the lovely family!

Bryce’s stunning red hair and porcelain skin are gorgeous, and we love how she has chosen to play up her beautiful features with a plethora of colors. Not shying away from any color, she chooses bold hues that truly make a statement. From deep blues to bright pinks to rich greens, the colors she chooses exude happiness and confidence. No matter what one’s coloring, adding bold and rich hues to one’s wardrobe is an excellent way to pep up one’s maternity wardrobe. This past June, Bryce rocked a gorgeous pink gown at the MTV Movie Awards. The flowing fabric in shades of pink was stunning, and the rope belt created a flattering empire waist. We also love the confidence Bryce exuded in her marigold gown that she recently wore on the red carpet. Paired with her deep red hair, the golden hue has an autumn feel. The empire-waist emphasis fits her baby bump beautifully, while her clean and simple styling really lets the dress shine.

No matter what one’s coloring, adding bold hues to one’s maternity wardrobe is stylish and truly exudes confidence. It can be added in subtle ways, such as a sapphire colored t-shirt or a deep red scarf. If one wants to be a bit bolder, try a pair of purple skinny jeans paired with a white tank or an emerald green cocktail dress. Congratulations to the Howard-Gabel family!

Jessica Alba Baby Girl Haven Garner Warner

Congratulations to glowing parents Jessica Alba and Cash Warren on the arrival of the newest addition to their family, baby girl Haven Garner Warner! Born August 13th at 7 pounds and 19 inches long, Haven joins excited big sister Honor. We could not be happier for the growing family!

Throughout her pregnancy, Jessica always had impeccable maternity style. Whether on the red carpet or running errands around town, she managed to combine style with comfort. For an appearance on the Jay Leno Show, just three weeks before Haven was born, Jessica rocked a gorgeous white maxi dress. Women often shy away from white as they are afraid it will make them look bigger, but it is more about the cut than the color. Jessica had a thin, animal print belt directly underneath her bust which created a slimming empire waist. The flowy-ness of the fabric over her baby bump created a long and lean look. For a similar look, try 1 in the Oven’s Beach Maternity/Nursing Dress. This flowing white dress is the epitome of beach goddess, with its lightweight gauze fabric. The dainty buttons at the bust are feminine and practical for easy nursing access, while the empire waist gives the same great shape as Jessica’s dress.

On her July 24th baby shower, Jessica nixed the traditional summer dress and instead wore a stylish chiffon dress over black leggings. This sophisticated look, paired with gorgeous wedges, was an instant hit. Leggings are a great choice for those latter months in pregnancy, as they are incredibly comfortable. A flowing short dress or long blouse heightens that level of comfort, while an empire waist distinction creates a slimming shape. For a look similar to Jessica’s, which is perfect for one’s own baby shower or a nice lunch out with the girls, pair Japanese Weekend’s Maternity Leggings with their Maternity/Nursing Twist Dot Top. The dainty dots are feminine and provide a Parisian feel, while the black and white color palette is sophisticated and classy.

From the runway to her daily life, Jessica exemplified style and comfort throughout her pregnancy. We are so happy for the growing family! Congratulations!

Pregnant Tina Fey Is Ready to Pop!!

The 40 year old comedian, Tina Fey, and husband, Jeff Richmond, are expecting their second child any day now. It seems we just can’t get enough of Tina Fey with her Palin impersonations to her award winning show, 30 Rock. However, we will now have to wait till January for the new season to begin. Fey will be playing “mom” to her newborn baby and 5 yr old daughter, Alice.

And the sex of the baby? Fey predicted “It’s going to be a werewolf” to the host, Craig Fergusen, on the Late Show.

Fey also has a new book out, Bossypants, which she began promoting back in April on an Oprah Winfrey appearance. This is when we first learned of the pregnancy and she was already 5 months pregnant. In her memoir, Tina openly agonized about her decision to have a second child in the midst of a demanding career and as she neared the big 4-0. It seemed her overwhelming desire to be a mom once again won out over all the other demands in her life. However Fey has fended off rumors that 30 Rock is coming to an end. So we can hope and expect to see Fey as a busy pregnant and working mom in the months ahead.

Fey certainly knows how to ROCK maternity wear. She has been spotted wearing anything from a tailored, Ann Taylor nautical outfit to a black dress showing off her burgeoning baby bump. One thing for certain, Fey has had fun keeping herself in fashion.

Any day now, the little werewolf should be making an entrance. I know we all can’t wait!!

Baby Carseat Recommendations

Parents are constantly given advice on how to care for their children, but the recent recommendations for car seats should not be overlooked. This is because forward-facing kids are far more likely to die (1). The long standing belief that children should ride in a rear-facing seat until they are 1 has been extended to 2 years, or longer, according to The American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. These new policy statements were issued on March 21st, 2011 and are based primarily on a 2007 University of Virginia study. The study found children under 2 are 75% less likely to suffer severe or fatal injuries in a crash if they are facing the rear (4). Toddlers have relatively large heads and small necks, in which the bones are structurally immature. If a child is forward facing, his or her neck can fly forward during a crash which can cause spinal cord injuries (3).

Parents should be aware that with each transition they make, from rear-facing to forward-facing, to booster seats, they are making the ride less safe for their child. It is better not to risk it and delay the switch as long as possible. Parents are often reluctant to keep their child rear facing, as they believe the child’s legs will be bent during the ride, they will have nothing stimulating to look at, or just be unhappy facing backwards (2). But if the child doesn’t know any differently, they will think it’s just the way it is. In this position, 2 year- olds are not more likely to break their legs in a crash and they are not necessarily any less comfortable.

Luckily, adhering to the recommendations is becoming easier for parents, as “most car seat makers have increased the amount of weight the seats can hold” (3). Ten years ago rear facing car seats only accommodated children up to 22 pounds. Today, nearly half or rear- facing seats hold 30 pounds.
