  • Kim Kardashian Is Looking To Be More Private In Her Pregnancy

Kim Kardashian, who has never been one to shy from the limelight, surprised everyone with Kanye West’s impromptu announcement of her pregnancy at his concert in Atlantic City, NJ on Dec 30th. Amazingly Kim was able to go under the radar as tabloids speculated over Jessica Simpson’s quick second pregnancy and then focused on Kate Middleton’s acute morning sickness.

Kim said it was nice to be out of the media spotlight during the early stages of her pregnancy while the royal couple got all the attention.

"I’m obviously so happy for them, but if anything I loved the privacy, " the 32-year-old reality TV start said in an interview last Wednesday.

Of course that bit of privacy is over now that the "Big Reveal" was made by boyfriend Kanye West at his concert. Kardashan says that her motherly instincts have made her more guarded in her personal life now that the word is out.

"I think that definitely kicks in where you’re like, ‘Ok, I have to go in protect mode,’ an as ironic as it sounds, you live your life on a reality show but then when you grow up…certain things change your life that make you want to be more private and this I definitely one of them."

Kardashian and West went public with their relationship in March. Kardashian married NBA player Kris Humphries in August 2011 and their divorce is not finalized.

    Kardashian is due in July.

A new season of her reality show with her sister Kourtney, "Kourtney and Kim Take Miami," premieres Sunday on E! (9 p.m. EST).

  • Jenna Bush Hager Announces Pregnancy

It seems that every day a celebrity or household name is expecting a baby. The latest in the line of famous pregnancies is former First Daughter Jenna Bush Hager who is celebrating her first pregnancy with her husband, Henry Hager.

The mom-to-be recently reported to access Hollywood, “I’m feeling great. My parents are really excited, obviously. This is the one gift they’ve been bothering me about.”

“They’ve been harassing me and my husband about it for five years,” she continued, laughing. “Literally, at our rehearsal dinner they brought it up…But they’re really thrilled of course.”

Bush Hager, who is a correspondent for the Today Show, revealed her pregnancy news publically on the program last week. She’s due in the Spring 2013 but still needs to make preparations for the baby.

“We still have a while to go and really we’re just celebrating the gift that will come in several months,” Bush told Access Hollywood.

"A White House Christmas: First Families Remember," premieres on Thursday, December 20 at 8 ET/PT.

Hosted by Meredith Vieira, the special looks at Christmases past and present and features members of presidential families over the last 50 years, including First Lady Michelle Obama, and former First Ladies Laura Bush, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barbara Bush and Rosalynn Carter.

"Warm and fuzzy doesn't really describe it," Bush Hager said when asked about the memories that spring to mind when thinking of her Christmases at the White House during her dad's two terms in the Presidency.

"The White House is such a magic place during the holidays... People come from all over the country to decorate it and then to see it, and you know, it's just a really special place and that's one of the reasons that we produced this special, all of these women and men - Michael Regan, as well -- we all have had the privilege of living history and being in this place so we wanted to share some of that magic."

TummyStyle congratulates Jenna Bush Hager on her first pregnancy and wish her all the best.

  • Kate Deals with Severe Morning Sickness

Although we would like to say congratulations are in order for the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband Prince William, it seems it may be a long 9 months of pregnancy for the royal couple with their recent announcement of Kate’s pregnancy along with severe morning sickness. Kate was said to be on the mend and “feeling better” Tuesday after her second day in a London hospital, according to the statement from St. James Palace.

Kate is believed to be only in her first trimester, possibly around 8 weeks pregnant, and this announcement is undoubtedly much sooner than they would like. However, the strong outpouring of support for the Duchess may be just what they need to deal with what could be a very challenging pregnancy ahead for Kate. Her condition, diagnosed as hyperemesis gravidarum, affects about 1 in 50 women who are expecting. The symptoms are severe vomiting that can last for the full duration of the pregnancy and may lead to dehydration if not treated. Kate is reportedly on an IV drip and taking pills to combat the nausea while she is on a “period of rest” at home.

Although severe morning sickness, as in Kate’s condition, can be serious for the mother and baby if the mother is very dehydrated (some people with this condition can vomit 30 times a day), if treated effectively with fluids and anti nausea medication, the majority of mothers go on to have healthy full term babies. There is even some studies showing that there are fewer miscarriages and preterm labor among women who have nausea and vomiting during pregnancy (although plenty of women experience no queasiness at all and go on to have delightful healthy pregnancies and babies).

Most studies do not explain why nausea in pregnancy can be sign of a healthy pregnancy although it is linked to higher levels of pregnancy hormones such as estrogen and hCG during pregnancy. There is also a slightly greater likelihood of twins with women with greater nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

The Duke of Cambridge is “immensely grateful for the good wishes they have received” his spokesman said. No doubt Kate’s condition will raise awareness of extreme morning sickness during pregnancy.

William, 30, is second in line for the throne after his father, Prince Charles. William’s first child, whether it’s a boy or a girl, would be third in line to become the monarch under the new rules. This baby would be the first grandchild for Prince Charles and the third great grandchild for Queen Elizabeth.

We wish Kate all the best with the rest of her pregnancy and hopefully some relief as she is treated effectively by her doctors and receives plenty of TLC from friends, family and her many well-wishers.

  • Coming To America To Have A Baby

A home in the Southern California town of Chino Hills is being offered to Chinese for a maternity holiday. The idea is for pregnant women to come live in the home so that they can have a US born baby.

For $5000 to $15000 per month one can stay at the hilltop seven bedroom home. The package includes food, travel, sightseeing and the hospital stay for the babybafter being born.

Such packages are already common for Korea mothers who will often come to the United States early in their pregnancy but shorter than their tourist visa stays. Coming earlier in a pregnancy is safer for travel and helps to avoid immigration from refusing entry.

With uncertainty in other parts of the world, as well as some of the best prenatal and post pregnancy medical care, the United States is a logical choice to have a birth for many women.

  • Megan Fox Looks Pretty In A Floral Maternity Dress

Megan Fox showed us once again that pregnancy does not have to be frumpy fashion. The 26 year old actress rocked a pretty black floral knee length dress while out with a gal pal in Los Angeles on Sunday (August 19). She also paired this stylish dress with some fearless high red velvet platform open toe shoes for a truly fierce look to offset the more conservative dress.

Megan has an upcoming film, This is 40, which is the sequel to the hit movie Knocked Up and also stars Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Jason Segal and Chris Dowd.

Florals are a big trend this season in dresses, tops and even swimwear fashion. Some great maternity dresses that play up the floral print are Japanese Weekend’s Red Maternity Sun Dress. This dress would look great with some red pumps, even if you don’t go for the red velour platforms shoes Megan sports!

Olian’s Short Sleeve Maternity Dress is another pretty choice with a shorter hemline and a while backdrop with fushia flowers and stripe accents on the sleeves, neckline and empire waistline.

Also, Olian’s Floral Ombre Dress is season favorite with fitted black bodice top, turquoise waistline and white, black and turquoise floral print apron skirt that is just stunning. This dress can be worn anywhere from a wedding to lunch with friends.

So, throw in some floral prints and play up your feminine side like Megan during your pregnancy. Also, have some fun with your footwear, but you may want to play it on the safe side in those last months of pregnancy when your balance may be challenged!

  • Kerri Walsh Expecting Baby #3 and Pregnant DURING Olympic Games!!!

If you did not already find Kerri Walsh completely mind blowing impressive with her 3rd Olympic Gold in beach volleyball with partner Misty May, but she also just revealed she was 5 weeks pregnant while competing in London 6 weeks ago while achieving that Gold Medal!

“When I was throwing my body around fearlessly and going for gold for our country, I was pregnant,” Walsh Jennings jokes.

While we don’t recommend beach volleyball as the preferred sport for expecting moms, I’m sure Kerri has probably scaled back on her body hurling in the sand now that she knows of the reality of her pregnancy. She even admitted feeling a little “off” during the games, although I’m sure her opponents didn’t feel that way about her play.

“I thought it could have been the stress of the Games and travel throws your schedule off,” she explains. “At some point, you’re late and then you start feeling something. And I definitely started feeling something in London.”

Kerri, 34, and her husband, Casey Jennings, will welcome baby number 3 in early April to join their sons, Sundance, 2 and Joseph, 3. Kerri says this pregnancy is a lot different than her previous pregnancies with her sons and is experiencing morning sickness every day.

“This little one is kicking my butt! The first two were pretty easy, but with this one, I’m sick every day,” she admits. “I’ve got some awesome acne. I just feel different.”

Well she sounds a little human, but I’m sure those washboard abs will pop out again by May!

All joking aside, we admire 3 times Gold Olympian Supermom Kerri and wish her all the best with her pregnancy.

  • Jessica Simpson Struggles with Pregnancy Weight Loss

I have to confess I’m a secret Jessica Simpson fan. Although I often find it hard to embrace the personalities of most overly hyped and overpaid Hollywood stars; Jessica

Simpson, despite her billions, seems to bring humor and humanity to all that she does and says.

As the new spokesperson for Weight Watchers we expect this well looked after and richly compensated star to drop the weight in no time at all. I’m sure she has her own private chef preparing every morsel of food entering her mouth which of course conforms to her finally crafted personalized Weight Watcher’s diet plan. No doubt she also has personal trainers showing up at her doorstep 7 days a week and nannies to care for her baby at her beckon call. However, her latest comments on overindulging during pregnancy and her struggles with the pregnancy weight not coming off easily, sure hit home with me and made her all at once the relatable girlfriend next door.

The 32 year old singer, actress and designer who welcomed Maxwell Drew on May 1st admitted to USA Today her lack of knowledge regarding pregnancy pounds, “I didn’t realize it didn’t all come off with the baby.” The 5’4” Simpson’s own weight reportedly topped 170 pounds in March. Daughter Maxwell Drew weighed in 9 pounds, 13 ounces at birth.

“I let myself indulge in everything I wanted because it was the first time I was ever pregnant and I wanted to enjoy it. I wanted to be happy and eat what I wanted.”

“I’m not a supermodel,” she continued. “My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel. I’m just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiancé and herself.”

Although I’m sure Simpson will look svelte and fit in no time at all, it’s somewhat comforting to know that even the biggest celebrities can fight off those post pregnancy pounds like the rest of us commoners.

It’s also important to remember that nutrition comes first in addressing weight issues after pregnancy. Breastfeeding moms in particular need to make sure they consume adequate healthy calories so they can produce enough breast milk for their babies.

  • Abortion Rate Drops to 18 Year Low

The pregnancy rate for women in their early 20s has fallen nearly 18% from 1990 to 2008. Additionally, the abortion rate over the same period of time has dropped by 32 percent, states the National Center for Health Statistics. The government report believes that women are deciding to delay having babies until later and using more effective birth control.

Another report released by the Guttmacher Institute stated that based up on the government statistics, teen abortion rate was down 59% in 2008 when compared to 1988. When compared to 1990 the tean pregnancy had dropped by 42%.

Stephanie Ventura who wrote the report, "Estimated Pregnancy Rates and Rates of Pregnancy Outcomes for the United States, 1990-2008.", for the National Center for Health Statistics stated that abortion rates have dropped across all age groups.

Women in their 20s are waiting to get pregnant. Also, there are better birth control methods and use of condoms. Other methods include contraceptive patches that release the hormones throughout the day.

The report stated that for all age groups in 2008, 65 out of 100 were live births, 18 abortions, and 17 were fetal loss (miscarraige). In comparison to 1990, 61 were live births, 24 abortions, and 15 ended in fetal loss.

  • A 16 Month Pregnancy!

9 months is too long to be pregnant for many women but if you are an elephant then you have to hang on for 16 months. Added to this is the fact that the elephant babies are a lot bigger than the average human at 250 pounds.

The elephant is an Asian elephant known as Rose-Tu and lisves at the Oregon Zoo in Portland. What is really amazing abou this is that you will need to look really close if you want to see any sign of bulging in Rose-Tu's belly. Zoo veterinarian Mitch Finnegan states that the elephant abdominal's organs move around to make room for the baby. It's harder to notice with elephants and many animals than it is to see if a human is pregnant.

There are currently about 38,000 to 51,000 Asian elephants remaining in the wild. Much of their decline is due to the loss of habitat and fight for their land with humans.

Asian elephants are considered highly endangered in their range countries, threatened by habitat loss and conflict with humans. It is estimated that only around 38,000 to 51,000 remain in fragmented populations.

Rose-Tu has given birth to before while in the zoo back in 2008. At that time she almost trampled her baby to death but zookeepers intervined to ensure the health of her baby.

    We wish Rose-Tu luck!

  • Jessica Simpson Is Just A Normal Mother

    Credit: Carter Smith/ELLE.

On May 1st Jessica Simpson, 31, gave birth to her daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, who weighed 9 pounds and 13 ounces and measured 21.75 inches! Jessica and her fiancé Eric Johnson decided to use the name Drew because it's Jessica's mother's maiden name.

It’s nice to finally see a “normal” baby name from a celebrity after a trend of celebrity baby names that sounded more like fruits, plants, cars, verbs and adjectives than anything a human being would go by. For most of us, this odd celebrity naming convention just furthers the gap between clearly privileged celebrities and the rest of us normal folks with baby’s names like “James” or “Audrey” who either stay at home with us as we try to multi-task with carpools and older kids activities or who get sent to preschool or daycare was we try to multitask at work and quickly change hats to fulltime mom when we get home for evening and weekend shift.

Jessica Simpson is one billionaire celebrity new mom that I can’t help but like. She’s very endearing and relatable with her upfront humorous honesty about everything and particularly her above average pregnancy weight gain. While most celebrity new moms often seem to the average mom like myself like some alien from outer space who look perfectly manicured throughout their effortless pregnancy, gain the perfect amount of weight in all the right places only to be placed on the cover of magazine weeks after birth with their swelt pre-pregnancy figure all intact. It does set the bar rather high for the rest of us “normal” moms without the benefit of special cooks, round the clock nannies and personal trainers and of course professional airbrushing in our photos.

It’s a bit of relief seeing a celebrity who “has it all” looking like most of us when she’s pregnant in her final trimester. She even shows she is a loyal trooper as a friend as she doesn’t shirk her bridesmaid responsibilities and dons the ill-fitting pre-ordained bridesmaid dress in her last weeks of pregnancy (which she has to know all the world will soon see in photos).

Jessica has weight gain much like I did in my first pregnancy which is basically everywhere and in a way that goes beyond flattering in the final countdown months and weeks. However, she does not hide from the cameras or shun interviews or appear embarrassed by her plus size pregnancy figure as you might expect from most former size 0 sex symbol celebrities. Instead, she appears to embrace her new full figure and weight gain with confidence, humor and grace which I think is our best take-away from her example.

I’m sure Jessica will have her enviable figure back in no time she is fulltime breastfeeding her baby in addition to recently signing a $4 million deal with Weight Watchers. (The rest of us would have been happy to have this deal for free, given the appropriate childcare, transportation, overall support for our house and older children, support for our day jobs, meal prep, housecleaning, etc) However, since this is Jessica Simpson, who I would like as my new BFF, I can’t help but support and cheer her on!
